The new rules, in plain terms.
Adults ages 19 to 64
People on Medicaid who don't have Medicare and don't have a child under 18 at home. Many people in this group will qualify for an exemption.
About 80 hours a month
Of work, school, job training, or volunteering, or a mix of them. Earning about $580 or more a month also counts.
Your first renewal in 2027
The rules start at your first renewal on or after January 1, 2027. After that, renewals for this group come every 6 months instead of once a year.

Open your mail from the state
Letters come from Illinois HFS (Healthcare and Family Services). They tell you what's changing for you and when your renewal is due. If you're asked for something, you'll usually have 30 days to send it.

Keep your contact info current
Log in at abe.illinois.gov and choose "Manage My Case," or call the state at 1-877-805-5312. Check your address, phone, and email so the state can reach you.
